National Child Protection Clearinghouse
The organisations listed and described on this site are good starting points for locating Australian organisations concerned with child protection.
There are helplines, numbers to call to report abuse and information on counselling services.

Advocates for Survivors of child Abuse (ASCA)
ASCA is a national non-profit organisation for both men and women dedicated to serving the needs of adult survivors of child abuse. It offers
advocacy, education and support.

Broken Rites
Broken Rites is a non-denominational Australia-wide support group for people who have been abused sexually, physically or emotionally in 
religious institutions.

Stop these suicides
A coalition survivor advocates, legal professionals, and legislative representatives working to investigate the sexual assault of children by clergy, protect the children, and Stop These Suicides.

Barnardos Australia
Barnados is a non-denominational, non-government welfare organisation which aims to prevent and reverse the effects of abuse, neglect and 
homelessness on children and young people.

National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN)
NAPCAN works for the prevention of all forms of child abuse and neglect, and towards greater community awareness. Also provides 
comprehensive education material, including extensive information on child abuse and how to report it.

Oz Child: Children Australia
Oz Child is a national non-government organisation committed to improving quality of care, life opportunities and status of children throughout 
Australia. Services include foster care, respite care for children with disabilities, assisting with placement of children with disabilities into Family 
Day Care and shared family care.

Care Leavers Australian Network (CLAN)

CLAN is a national support group for the tens of thousands of children in Australia brought up in care as state wards, foster children or home 
children raised in institutions. It aims to raise community awareness of the life-long implications affecting these people, and to campaign for 
government assistance to redress them. It recognises that being raised without family requires lifelong support services.

The Esther Centre
The Esther Centre (Centre for Addressing Abuse in Human Services and Faith Communities) provides support for people who have experienced 
physical, sexual, emotional and spiritual abuse in church institutions, faith communities and human services.

Senate Inquiry into Children in Institutional Care
The Parliament of Australia website has the terms of reference and other relevant information about the government inquiry which is due to report 
by December 2003.

Victorian Centres Against Sexual Assault
The Victorian CASA Forum Inc is the peak body of the 15 Centres Against Sexual Assault, and the Victorian Sexual Assault Crisis Line (after hours). They work to ensure that women, children and men who are victim/survivors of sexual assault have access to comprehensive and timely support and intervention to address their needs.

Survivors Australia (SA)
Survivors Australia's welcome statement: "Survivors Australia (SA), incorporating Survivors of Clergy Abuse Australia (SCAA)  is the national body created to support survivors of child abuse, and their family and friends.  Our aim is simple.  Provide a safe place where survivors know they will be validated and supported on their journey for justice and recover.  Survivors Australia is run for survivors by survivors."
